The Long Road
From the start our plan & foundation was based on faith and friendship. A few years before we Started "In the Rough Soaps" My wife Diamond started to feel that her personal life & circle of friends had taken a real downturn in quality & quantity.

After Diamond had our first son Elijah and was pregnant with our second son Isaiah, she found that even with all the unknown joys & blessing's that came with being a mother she still needed to get out and have a social life.

(A little background for Diamond) When she was born their was a lack of oxygen to her brain which caused a condition called Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy differ's widely for most people with the condition. Diamonds condition is quite severe. However within the last few years, with constant encouragement, Diamond has advanced through many area's in life which once were deemed & seemed unattainable.

One of Diamond's Largest struggle's has to do with her speech. When Diamond and I met she was very difficult to understand, and even now it's a struggle for me every now & then, but anyway, back to when the concept of soap making became a reality.

The problem:

Diamond needed some new friends and people to hangout with. With Diamond struggling with speech and the propensity for people to give up when they find themselves in a difficult situation/ conversation so i felt we needed to find something to draw people in, something to keep their attention and make a for moment's of their time worth it. Soap, that was all i could think about, Soap. I had never made soap or ever thought about such a thing. I generally work in lumber mills, heavy equipment production, etc... but for some reason soap seemed to be the answer.

So i started researching Soap, all the way's to make it, all the options and possibilities to create not only a lasting friendship but a quality lasting product. Well, turns out i love making soap. I've never had so much fun, Plus every bar of soap i made fulfilled it's intended purpose.

Diamond started making friend's immediately & today she has a large Group of friends and a very robust social life. She's a hardworking mom and a fantastic wife.

It's a long road, but what a trip.
